Planting a church is an exciting and challenging opportunity.
CBOQ journeys alongside our churches and leaders who are seeking to plant new churches in Ontario and Quebec. We provide coaching, training, grants and support for church planters who are dedicated to growing the Kingdom in new ways and new places.
Growing your Skills

Coaching for Church Planters
Church planting is about people, and bringing them together to learn, worship and grow together. The success or failure of a church plant depends on the grace of God and the relationships we forge. It is rewarding and, at times, difficult, and having someone walk alongside you as a church planter can make a colossal difference.
That’s why CBOQ has church planting coaches to assist you in your journey. Through conversations, resources, assistance in evaluating and adapting ministry, prayer and relationship, experienced church planters coach you through the trials, tribulations and triumphs of planting a church.
Coaching is for:
- Recent graduates who are new to church planting and want to find out more
- Established leaders who are exploring their call to church planting and evangelism
- Church planters who are already planting, but would like to further develop their skills
We consider it a privilege to journey alongside our church planters. If God is calling you to plant churches in the Canadian Baptist family in Ontario and Quebec, contact us!

Church Planting Internship with a CBOQ Church
To help church planters get started in the right direction, CBOQ is offering church planting internship opportunities. Internships are fully funded by CBOQ and offer a unique way for church plants to have additional help while giving an intern valuable church planting experience.

Planting Churches Together
CBOQ exists to equip our churches and their leaders to engage with their mission from God in their community. If your church’s mission includes church planting, CBOQ can help you find symbiotic opportunities for your church to work with a church planter, expanding your church’s mission. As a sponsor, your church provides:
- Prayer and encouragement
- Practical supports like bookkeeping and leadership consultation
- A way for new church plants to access CBOQ church funding
- Strong relationships with a fledgling church, allowing new local mission fields to be reached!
We are a family of churches, and as family, we welcome the opportunity to work together, to share the Gospel and plant fresh expressions of the Kingdom. We are excited to work with your church as you consider ways to partner with a church planter.
Contact Cid Latty, Congregational Development Associate to begin a conversation today that will guide you, as a church planter or church interested in planting, through your next steps.

To help you prepare to plant, CBOQ encourages you to read the following:
The New Leaf Network is a partnership of a number of Canadian denominations, who work together to equip, encourage and resource church planters, or those considering planting, here in Canada. We offer Canadian specific teaching and mentorship through our Church Plant Design Shops and offer events throughout the year to cultivate relationships and connections with other planters across Canada.
Church Planting Canada was initiated in 1997 in Bramalea, Ontario and has developed into a broad network of Canadian leaders who work together for the multiplication of churches across Canada. The movement believes that the best way to do this is to focus on the missional nature of the churches that are being planted in order to engage in the transformation of neighbourhoods with the love of Christ.
