We’re looking for a pastor who can take our church with its new members, new Christians and budding leadership into the next phase. We are looking for a relational pastor who loves and fears God and cares for His people deeply. Someone who preaches and teaches the Word of God– not just a motivational speaker who uses spiritual lingo. Someone who shepherds and oversees willingly by eagerly being an example. Someone who is able to gather our team of leaders together to implement effective outreach strategies, further develop our vision for the church, and facilitate meaningful small groups.

Pickering Community Baptist Church (PCBC) is a hospitality-driven, prayer-focused, warm and friendly church that meets in Pickering, Ontario. Nestled in a multi-ethnic suburb of Toronto, our church is aiming to become a community church reflective of our surroundings. PCBC started out as a Chinese church, but grew over time to have both a Chinese-speaking congregation and an English-speaking congregation. Over the last two years, our English-speaking congregation has diversified, reflecting the community we live in.  Our church is alive and growing with salvations, multiple baptisms and new members joining the church.  The English-Speaking congregation has an average attendance of 50 people on a Sunday morning, while the Chinese-speaking congregation has slightly more.  We have a contemporary worship style. Our vision is to continue to become a community church reflecting the diversity in our area, and reach others with the gospel.

• Calling from God to full-time ministry
• Godly character outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7
• Graduate degree or higher from seminary
• 5+ years of Pastoral experience

Preferred:

• Prior pastoral or church ministry experience in North America
• Willing to be accredited with CBOQ
• Willing to go through Church Renewal materials - https://churchrenewal.com

• Be the shepherd for the English-speaking congregation, providing visionary and spiritual leadership
• Preach and teach on Sundays, other special worship services, as well as other teaching opportunities
• Administer the ordinances: communion, and baptism
• Oversee pastoral care for our church and community
• Be accountable to the Deacon board/Church Board
• Lead small groups and/or oversee small group leaders
• Work with the ministry board to implement outreach
• Develop and disciple ministry leaders
• Work collaboratively with the Chinese-speaking pastor in any shared ministry
• Work collaboratively with Chinese translators for shared church events
• Be able to provide and maintain digital content for all church media channels
