Mental Health Matters

One in five people will experience a mental disorder at some point in their lives. While these illnesses of the brain can affect anyone, as people of faith, too often we have blamed people who suffer with mental illness for a lack of faith. Discussion around mental illness has been noticeably absent from most places of worship. We can easily pray for those experiencing a physical challenge, but those who are struggling with depression, anxiety or other mental illnesses remain invisible. So what can we do?

Next Generation leaders are charged with caring for the youngest members of our family of churches. Whether you are caring for toddlers or teenagers, we are dedicated to equipping you to respond to the changing reality of church in engaging children, youth, young adults and families inside and outside of the church.

Stewardship

Managing church resources can be complicated. CBOQ is committed to assisting your church encourage generosity and facilitate giving. We encourage you to use these resources with your congregation as you steward God’s resources well.

CBOQ has partnered with Tithe.ly, an online giving platform designed to help churches increase giving and engagement with tools built for ministries. As giving trends change, and fewer people give by cash or cheque, having online giving options can make a substantial difference for churches.

What does it mean to live a generous life? How can we encourage our fellow Canadian Baptists and ourselves to live more generously? Beyond tithing our 10%, true generosity leads us to give our time, talent and treasure in the service of Jesus. We encourage you to use this new resource to help your congregation understand and practice generosity in your church.

Church Boards

Boards are charged with directing, protecting and reflecting on their churches. Discerning how best to flourish in God’s call in your congregation can be intimidating. Developing healthy boards can significantly impact the well-being of a congregation, allowing them to focus their ministry, care for their pastors and staff and serve their communities.
