On the Path to Success: Setting Goals for the New Year

By Diego Benitez, Communications Admin. Assistant, CBOQ

In so many ways the beginning of the new year marks a time for new endeavours: resolutions are made, events are planned, and our hope for change and success is fresh in our minds and hearts. While we’ve only recently returned from a busy Christmas season, it’s important to take a moment for ourselves to pause and think about what we can do this year, for our families, our churches, ourselves, and most importantly, the Lord. Ahead of us lies the whole year full of opportunity to make a difference. Whether that be by offering a helping hand, reaching out to family, or being kinder to ourselves, let’s pray we do our best!

With humility and gratitude, I share with you today my personal and professional goals for this year. While thinking of what I wanted to accomplish this year I thought for a moment of who I am and who I was, which made me remember all the cherished memories in between.

One aspect of my life that brought a smile to my face was being outside! I could never part ways with my affinity for outdoor activity, of which one of my favourites is cycling. During my university life my bike became a big part of my identity, it was my key to accessing the city, seeing my friends, and simply finding restful time away from busy school weeks.

This year I want to go back to enjoying the simple fun that I get from being outside on my bike. As part of this goal, I’m planning a cycling weekend with my brothers this summer, just like we used to!

As a proud new member of the CBOQ team I strive to excel in my role. My main professional goal for the first half of this year is to help plan and see through the success of Assembly 2025. A lot of work is required for this but with concentrated effort and diligent preparation, it will happen, and I know the value of this will be immense!

I pray for your success in accomplishing your goals this year, with Him it’s possible.
