Description
Under the leadership of the Mandarin Lead Pastor, you will:
- Together with other Mandarin pastors, envision, plan and lead the ministry team
- Provide leadership in planning and coordinating worship services
- Provide leadership in nurturing the spiritual life of believers
- Provide leadership in developing Discipleship Ministry in the congregation
- Co-work with the Outreach Pastor to provide strategic leadership in reaching out to Mandarin speaking
- community
- Develop existing ministry to Young Career and Young Family
- Participate in general pastoral duties as assigned, such as preaching, teaching, visitation, pastoral
- counselling and others.
Overview of Church and Community
Scarborough Chinese Baptist Church (SCBC) is an evangelical church with three congregations: Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. We are strategically located in the Greater Toronto Area which is one of the most dynamic and multicultural area in North America. We are seeking a full-time pastor to minister in our Mandarin speaking congregation. The pastor will serve under the leadership of the Mandarin Lead Pastor and in collaboration with the Mandarin pastoral staff, other pastoral staff, deacons and lay leaders in a team approach.

- has a deep devotion and commitment to Christ
- is called and committed to the ministry of the local church
- has strong shepherd heart and exemplified servant qualities
- has effective communication and organizational skills
- has strong leadership and people skills
- is willing to work in a collaborative team environment
- Is fluent in Mandarin (written and orally) and able to communicate in English (written and orally). Spoken Cantonese is an asset but not a must.
- possesses an MDiv degree at an Association of Theological Schools (ATS) accredited institution, or equivalent
