This month we turn our attention to Pastor Gord and Marcy Tetley, from North Dresden Baptist Church in the small town of Dresden, Ontario. The two of them are keen on developing and strengthening community engagement in Dresden where they hope to welcome new homeowners in the area.
With their micro-grant Pastor Gord and Marcy were able to purchase the supplies necessary to create beautiful “Welcome to the Community” gifts that they deliver personally to new homeowners in their community. As Dresden undergoes substantial development with the construction of new subdivisions, Pastor Gord and North Dresden Baptist Church are in a great position to reach out to folks who seek comfort as they settle in to their new homes.
This outreach practice creates an important point of contact with new community members because, whether they are churchgoers or not, these welcoming gifts offer a sign of support and care. A simple yet compassionate gesture such as this serves as an example of God’s loving presence in their community. In addition to the welcoming gifts, Pastor Gord and Marcy Tetley offer new community members information about services and programs available at North Dresden Baptist Church, such as their children and youth ministries and monthly community meals. Most importantly, they invite newcomers to experience the ultimate welcoming gift: the word of God.
We are so grateful for the amazing work done by Pastor Gord and Marcy Tetley, and all the folks at North Dresden Baptist Church. We thank them for this good news story.
