Description

Ambassador Baptist Church is seeking a visionary leader with a drive to grow the kingdom of GodYou are a pastor who makes it a priority to actively seek the will of God through prayer, has a strong desire to teach, study and live by God's Word.  You must have the ability to share the love of Christ and connect with the diverse group of people that attend the church and live within our community.  You are a sincere and caring person who possesses a heart for God to provide guidance, care and assistance to others.  The position is part time and would require a candidate that is bi-vocational.

Overview of Church and Community

Ambassador Baptist Church has been actively serving Jesus Christ since 1929 and is located in Windsor Ontario.  Windsor is a border city located south of Detroit Michigan and has a population of approximately 200,000 people.  Windsor offers a variety of employment opportunities including professional services, retail, educational, manufacturing and automotive sectors.

The church is located in the west Windsor community that has greater needs than the more affluent parts of the city.  There are mainly single family war time homes, apartment buildings and subsidized housing within the neighbourhood.  The community around the church is diverse in age, ethnicity, religious affiliation and economic status.  There are retail stores and restaurants along Huron Church Road which is the closest main street that runs from the Ambassador Bridge to Highway 401.  The church is two blocks west from Huron Church Road and is located directly across the street from Marlborough School.  There has been good co-operation and involvement with that neighbouring public school.  Our church was providing a team that cooked pancakes once a week for the breakfast club program at the school until the program was stopped due to the pandemic.

The church is a small sized congregation of approximately 30 people with an age, ethnic and economic mix.  About 65% of the congregation live in the community and 35% live in other parts of the city.  Outreach has been an important focus of the church as we were holding a free weekly community dinner every Wednesday evening until we were impacted by the Covid 19 restrictions.  We also have a food bank that was open twice a month until we were impacted by the virus.  The church is currently still assisting with community food assistance as needs arise.  There is a weekly Wednesday evening Bible study group with at least 10 people attending.  There are a handful of young people that are an important group within our church family but there has not been an active youth group since July 2019 when our youth leader resigned (due to a new full time employment and his upcoming marriage).  Our previous pastor left in September 2019 after serving10 years at Ambassador Baptist Church to take a position at a CBOQ church in Quebec.

Beginning in September 2019, the church was having a guest speaker each week until March 2020 when we were required to close for 10 weeks due to Covid 19.  Our church family was encouraged to participate in online services from our sister CBOQ churches.  During the pandemic, an effort was made by our church leaders to keep in contact with church members and adherents.  Our church directory was updated and personally delivered to every family.  We resumed having worship services in our church building on June 14, 2020 continuing with guest speakers preaching God's Word.  Our church attendance has been 25-30 people most weeks which is slightly less than what our numbers were prior to the pandemic.  Now we are looking forward to being focused on our church family and neighbourhood by serving their needs as well as reaching them with the hope and love that comes from Jesus.
