Walking Together

Resources for Truth and Reconciliation

Equipping our churches for the journey of justice, healing, and hope.

At CBOQ, we recognize the importance of walking the road of truth and reconciliation in a spirit of humility, repentance, and hope. As the CBOQ family we are committed to listening, learning, and building right relationships with Indigenous peoples—both within our churches and in the communities we serve.

This landing page has been created as a space for reflection, action, and shared learning. It features resources to support your church, small group, or family as you learn and engage with the journey toward reconciliation—not only on September 30, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, but throughout the year.

We believe that the gospel calls us to pursue justice, healing, and right relationship with all peoples. As followers of Jesus, we lament the historic and ongoing harm experienced by Indigenous communities, and we commit ourselves to the long journey of reconciliation.

Honouring our Indigenous Churches

CBOQ is humbled and honoured to walk alongside three Indigenous churches within our Baptist family: Oshweken Baptist Church, First Oneida Baptist Church, and Mistissini Faith Bible Chapel. Each congregation reflects the beauty, strength, and deep faith of their respective communities, and their leadership continues to shape our shared witness as a family of churches.

These churches embody the gospel in ways that challenge and inspire us all. Their presence within CBOQ reminds us that reconciliation is not only about the past but it is about how we walk together today, tomorrow and well into the future.

As we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to honour the faith, perseverance, and spiritual journeys of each member of these churches. We encourage you, our CBOQ family, to pray for them, learn from them, and celebrate their ongoing ministry. The journey toward healing and justice is long but it is made stronger by walking it together.
