What is Leading Edge?

The Leading Edge workshop is designed to support pastors in their first 1-2 years in ministry, particularly those new to Canada or recently transitioned into a new church setting. The full-day, online workshops take place via Zoom, providing vital training and support for those navigating the early stages of pastoral ministry.

This workshop is part of an ongoing two-year cohort, with follow-up in-depth content available in the Engaged spaces throughout the year. Sessions will continue to be held in May and November, providing new pastors with continued support, resources, and a space for growth as they navigate the complexities of ministry.

What is covered during the workshop?

  • Boundaries in Ministry: Focus on boundary basics, case study discussions, and practical self-care strategies.
  • Ministry in a Canadian Context: Explore intercultural competency, managing personal biases, and trust-building within diverse communities.
  • Pastoral Administrative Skills and Planning: Provide insights into sermon planning, time management, and ministry priorities.
  • Building Trust and Managing Conflict: Offer strategies for resolving conflicts and understanding hidden covenants.
  • Pastoral Self-Care: Focus on soul care and identifying burnout signs.
