Our next pastor will be a man or woman who is able to lead us into greater spiritual maturity and outreach; Your current and past experiences demonstrate your ability to disciple and challenge believers to share the gospel. You are someone who wants to see a spiritually growing church become even more committed to Jesus and to sharing Him with our friends, neighbours, and coworkers.
We are a church looking to grow in being more Christlike and are longing for someone who can consistently bring God’s word to us in their preaching. We don’t expect you to be fully arrived; we would like someone who will come and grow with us.
Overview of Church and Community
Glen Acres Baptist Church’s vision is to be a loving community that follows Jesus by worshipping God, growing towards Christian maturity, caring for others, and sharing the Good News. We typically have around 80 people on a Sunday morning, with a mix of ages from 0 to 103, and a diversity in ethnicities. As a church, we have recently dedicated ourselves to spiritually grow and share the gospel, with a 10-year goal of having 10,000 gospel conversations.
Positioned on the border of two cities (Waterloo and Kitchener), our church is in an active society containing two universities and a college. Waterloo Region is comprised of three cities (Waterloo, Kitchener, and Cambridge) and has a population of over 600,000. Waterloo Region offers a wide variety of festivals, shopping centers, parks, trails, farmers’ markets, and museums, and has an innovative tech industry.
Church Purpose | Mission Statement
- Preferably 10+ years of pastoral experience
- Appropriate theological education, such as an MDiv or equivalent
- Ordained and accredited and/or willing to be accredited in Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec (CBOQ)
- Celebrates Baptist (CBOQ) Distinctives and Polity
- Experience in informing people’s spirituality
- Evangelism/Outreach experience would be an asset
- Vibrant prayer life, prayerful visionary
Role and Responsibilities
You are:
Spiritually gifted in leadership: You are sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and follow where He wishes to lead the church. You lead with initiative, passion, and delegation.
An experienced discipler: You are a genuine people developer, having proven your ability to equip a congregation for outreach as it seeks to grow its skills in that area. You have experience developing the Priesthood of Believers and cultivating volunteers.
An effective preacher: You have an engaging nature, with biblically based application for a diverse congregation living in today’s world.

As a church intentionally pursuing spiritual growth and outreach, we recognize the challenges that come with change. As a pastor, you will need flexibility and patience to work with us.
