Description

The Pastor of Clyde River Baptist Church shall serve its congregation through feeding, nurturing and leading the people of the church. We are searching, through God’s leading for a pastor to provide leadership, and help to guide the direction and vision for the church. A relatively small, mostly older congregation, we seek a partner in reaching our community, growing our fellowship and building establishing the next generation.

Salary and Benefits: Based on CBAC guidance. 

Hours: Part time, approximately 50%, averaging 20 hours with potential to increase with church growth.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Recognized appropriate training, Accredited Ordained Minister, Candidate for Ordained Pastoral Ministry, or Lay Pastor with appropriate training. 
  • Strong bible-based teacher and communicator. 
  • Experience and background reflecting a deep relationship and love for God. 
  • Able to work well with individuals and groups and to work independently when required. 
  • Sufficiently comfortable with technology to prepare and display powerpoint or other presentation using the church computer and projection system. 

Role and Responsibilities

  1. Biblical preaching and teaching ministry leading to growth in understanding of doctrine, principles of our Christian faith, knowledge of God’s Word, and application to our daily lives.  
  2. Provide pastoral care for the congregation personally or through groups, including counselling and visitation, especially of those in hospital, shut-ins and new believers and conduct baptisms, funerals, weddings, and other specific events. 
  3. Direction and planning of the worship service including overseeing music planning in consultation with musicians or worship leader(s). 
  4. Provide leadership and direction for ministry, working with church leadership, boards and committees for effectiveness, vision, and development of people.  
  5. Strengthen and encourage the church body in personal evangelism and outreach mission (at home and abroad). 
  6. Ensure/guide the training of new believers in the basics of the Christian life and integration into the congregation. 
  7. Participate constructively in Deacon meetings and respond to mail, phone and email contacts in a timely manner. 
  8. Attend to other matters that may arise in consultation with the Deacon’s Board
