Discipleship Online: Christian Maturity and Emotionally Healthy Discipleship
March 4 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
We are continuing our discipleship online series. Our purpose is to cultivate a culture of discipleship in the local church. It is not about creating or developing more programs. We are about growing and multiplying disciples and communities for the sake of Christ and His Church.
Discipleship Online Planning Team: Dennis Funk, Small Group Network (A ministry of the Navigators) and Sheldon Dyck, Discipleship and Small Groups Pastor at Mississauga City Baptist Church, Paul Lam, CBOQ Church Life and Leadership Associate
The church, the household of God is called to mature Christians. However, maturity often alludes the church and is often misunderstood. Mature Christians are often equated with those who serve in the church, act nice to people, and know scripture. Is there more to maturity than this?
Yes, and we should be longing for more! We long for the church to become more like Christ. There are too many programs and classes designed to help churches do this work but, we need to understand what it takes to see actual change for ourselves.
For this Discipleship Online, we will define Christian maturity and take a closer look at the process for how people grow. We will also look at emotionally health. Peter Scazzero, the author of Emotionally Healthy Spirituality wrote, “It’s Impossible to Be Spiritually Mature, While Remaining Emotionally Immature.” Sheldon Dyck will be reviewing his vast experience in developing leaders in Emotional Health. Dennis will lead us a conversation about intentional relationships within the process of growth.
