Making an Impact

By Dave Laing, Long-time Camp Kwasind volunteer

Why would you even consider volunteering at a Christian summer camp? It’s fun! The benefits outweigh the mosquitos. Volunteering at camp makes us part of a team, gives opportunity to develop leadership skills and make new friends. Christian volunteering is a wonderful means of expressing gratitude and strengthening faith. Philippians 2: 3-4 says “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others.”

Whether we choose to offer our time and talents to improve camp outreach by building, repairing, cleaning, cooking, planning, or providing leadership, there is an unmistakable joy when we know we have contributed to providing a once-in-a-lifetime Christian camping experience for so many kids.

My experience is with Camp Kwasind. We are grateful for the hundreds of volunteers who have served for almost 80 years. Kids, ages 7-17 benefit from the dedication of summer staff and volunteers. Camp needs volunteers all year round to help maintain and serve, what and who, God has trusted to us. Spring and Fall work weekends are for individuals or families to come and help make the work light and share in the fun! There are ways you can help this summer at Kwasind to make it a ‘Legendary’ season for campers. Contact our Executive Director, Matt Wilkinson, for details.

Have I mentioned that when you come to camp your meals are prepared for you and the views across the lake are incredible!?

Thanks to Dave!

And thanks to you for giving support to camp ministry. Here are three camps supported by CBOQ Associations that still need help this summer. Please contact them to see how you may be able to experience the fun of volunteering.
