Honouring the Present, Investing in the Future

Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec exists to equip churches and leaders to engage in their mission from God in their community.

Few people have continuously served Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec for as long or as faithfully as Rev. Lionel Pye of Campbellford Baptist Church, Ontario. Not only has Rev. Pye served his own church, but he has also has served the McMaster Divinity College Board for 25 years, chairing the Board since 2004. Prior to serving at McMaster, Rev. Pye also served as the president of CBOQ.

In honour of Rev. Pye’s continued service, and as part of the mission of Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec, we are excited to announce that the CBOQ Board of Directors unanimously approved a $250,000 contribution to the “Our Future is Clear” Building Fund at McMaster Divinity College.

“Lionel Pye has served our Canadian Baptist family faithfully for so many years.  I am so excited that CBOQ has chosen to offer this gift in his honour, ” says Tim McCoy, CBOQ Executive Minister.

CBOQ is proud to support its Partner in Mission, McMaster Divinity College as they develop effective evangelical Christian leaders for the Church, academy, and society through university-level education, professional training, and ongoing support—equipping current and future leaders for our family of churches.

“We are thankful for the ongoing partnership we feel with McMaster Divinity College and are excited to be a part of the expansion of their educational and administrative space,” says Heather Rumball, CBOQ Past-President.

CBOQ is pleased to have this opportunity to honour Rev. Lionel Pye, a leader with a strong commitment to excellence, and to invest in the long-term leadership and well-being of our family of churches as we continue to be transformed by Christ, revealing God’s kingdom.
