Change at CBOQ

I’d like to share with you some changes on our staff team here at CBOQ.

You may recall last December I shared the news that our Congregational Development and Leadership Development departments were merging to become the Church Life and Leadership department. This newly shaped team is focused on equipping and enhancing the capacity of church leaders to build and disciple thriving congregations, with Dallas Friesen providing leadership as the Director of Church Life and Leadership. I am excited to share with you two new additions to this team. Beginning April 9, Paul Lam will be joining our team as Church Life and Leadership Associate. He will be focused on equipping church leaders in all areas of church life. Paul as been the Pastor of Discipleship and Community Life at Scarborough Chinese Baptist Church for about nine years. During that time, he has been instrumental in developing a culture of discipleship and leader development at his church. Paul is passionate about pouring into church leaders to develop their leadership potential. Later in June, Marc Potvin will be joining our team as Pastoral Leaders Development Associate. He will be focused on the personal and professional development of pastoral leaders. Marc has been the pastor at Green Ridge Baptist Church in Sherbrooke, Quebec for the last few years. Prior to that he was a pastor with Canadian Baptists of Atlantic Canada. Marc brings experience mentoring new pastors and seminary students from Acadia Divinity College, coaching churches in pastoral transition and providing chaplaincy services in the military context. He is passionate about seeing pastors grow and develop, and developing connections amongst people. In addition, Walter McIntyre and Cid Latty continue to serve on this team in their current roles. Our Church Life and Leadership Team is eager to serve you! Please email Carol Gouveia, Team Coordinator,  or call at 416-620-2949.

I am also pleased to share that Ethan Clark has recently started as the Managing Camp Director for Kwasind. He has pastored for 6 years in the area of youth and young adult ministry.  Most recently, Ethan has been serving as the Lead Director of Summer Programs & Camp Experience at Camp Mini-Yo-We.

Finally, I am grateful that Sheila Dyck has stepped into the Executive Assistant role with me in the Executive Minister’s Office.

Most of all, thank you for your partnership and your prayers as we continue on our mission to equip churches and leaders as you engage in your mission from God in your community. It is a privilege to serve with you.

Strength and joy,

Tim McCoy

Executive Minister, CBOQ
