Serving our Churches Better

Dear fellow Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec,

I am pleased to announce an amalgamation, an appointment and two opportunities.

To begin, we are forming a new department at CBOQ. Our Congregational Development and Leadership Development departments will be merging to become the Church Life and Leadership department. With the focus on equipping and enhancing the capacity of church leaders to build and disciple thriving congregations, this newly shaped team will be fully engaged with providing resources and services in the following areas:

  1. Equipping all areas of church life
  2. Personal and professional development of pastoral leaders
  3. Missional initiatives

I am very excited about this comprehensive approach to leadership development and church resourcing and the increased capacity we will have to equip our churches and their leaders.

In addition, effective immediately, Dallas Friesen will be providing leadership to this new team as the Director of Church Life and Leadership. Dallas’ extensive work on church resourcing over the last two years has provided evidence of his expertise and commitment to leadership development in the life of the whole church leadership structure—including both paid and volunteer leaders. Dallas will be shaping this team and providing overall leadership to CBOQ’s commitment to our mandate of developing leaders and resourcing churches.

Finally, we have created two new roles that will help us deliver on the Church Life and Leadership department’s mandate–a Pastoral Leaders Development Associate and a Church Resources Associate. If you are interested in applying for either role or know of someone you think should apply, you can find more information here.

Most of all, thank you for your partnership and your prayers as we continue on our mission to equip churches and leaders as you engage in your mission from God in your community.  It is a privilege to serve with you.

Strength and joy,

Tim McCoy
