What I Did on my Summer Vacation – The Intern Edition –

This summer, CBOQ has been hosting our amazing Canada Summer Jobs Communications intern, Megan Hanstke. Megan has spent many hours this summer doing excellent work on several of our projects, providing her expertise in artistic and graphic design. As Megan is also capable of speaking for herself, we’ll let her tell her own story!

MeganHi everyone,

My name is Megan Hanstke and I am a student at Redeemer University. First off I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a child of God, a daughter, an older sister and a student. Currently studying Visual Arts and Psychology I was inspired to be someone teenagers or young adults can look up to –  in any work position I find myself in.

This summer I got the opportunity to be part of the CBOQ team! For the eight weeks I was here, I interned with Jacqueline Solomon, the Communications Associate. Learning all about how the churches in Ontario and Quebec interact with their members and their community came with the internship, but primarily I helped with the creative thinking behind the scenes. For the majority of my internship I was helping Jacqueline with the design of the Jr. and Sr. High curriculum, which are now available.

Working 30 hours a week, I tried hard to put my vision into the graphic designs and also balance what CBOQ Youth was looking for in the curriculum and worked on the cover of the 2014 Advent Reader. You would think that being in an office all summer would be pretty glum, but I would say that this office is filled with love and spiritual inspiration.

Maybe you didn’t know this but everyone on this team works so hard to make sure that each church is supported and taken care of. Everyone here puts God into all aspects of their work. Each week 10 different churched are selected and the CBOQ team meets up to pray for each church individually for anything that the church is going through, whether it’s leadership changes, personal growth or the community the church is impacting. Being involved in this family is a spiritual awakening. Although serious work is taking place, there is always laughter filling each hallway and office. Everyone here at CBOQ is so involved in their work it just makes you want to be part of everything all at once. I hope to stay connected to CBOQ by getting involved in anyway I can.

I am so very happy that I was able to be part of the CBOQ family! I hope and pray that they have an awesome year and I can’t wait to see how God will lead them and all their churches in Ontario and Quebec.
