Description

This is a part-time position for an active individual with strengths in Bible teaching, preaching and evangelism - one who enjoys working with seniors and children.

Overview of Church and Community

Burtch Baptist was founded in 1869, in the rural community of Burtch. The church is rural in location, but draws its members from the surrounding area, including Brantford and Mt. Pleasant. The membership is 53, with another 20 adherents, comprised of professionals, retired persons, blue collar workers, students and a few farmers. The original sanctuary was constructed in 1869, an addition with classrooms was added in 1958, and a full gymnatorium and kitchen in 1975. The Fellowship Hall/gym is wheelchair accessible, with washrooms, and we are fund-raising to make the sanctuary accessible also.
We have a predominantly mature congregation at present, but all age groups are represented. We recognize there is a necessity to reach out to the surrounding neighbourhood, with a desire for growth and renewal. We are open to new ideas, although we tend to be somewhat traditional. Our music is a blend of traditional and contemporary. There is an strong ministry-minded core group of individuals who work well together.
There are significant yearly activities to reach out to the community: a well-attended Breakfast and Worship Service on Good Friday morning, a Women’s dinner in the Spring, a Christian Concert series for 8 weeks in the summer, a Children’s program during the summer, a Basketball group who play each week, a Joint Service with community churches, a monthly accessibility worship service in the Fellowship Hall and a Beef Dinner in October. There is a small Sunday School for the children, and youth, as well as an adult class, following the worship service on Sunday mornings. Baptist Women meet monthly, and a well-attended Men’s Breakfast happens 4 times a year.
